POST-ADOPTION LEARNING CENTER (PAL Center, Inc)
CL2 SmartStart Program: Helping Your Internationally Adopted Child Develop a Foundation for Learning. Toolbox II - Ages 5 to 8. Back to Homepage

The SmartStart Program is designed to help parents facilitate thinking and learning in their internationally adopted children. It offers specific activities that focus on processes that have been found to positively influence the cognitive development of young children.
The Toolbox II is designed with the basic needs and problems of newly internationally adopted preschool and school age children in mind. The types of activities are the same as in the Toolbox I, but the instructions are slightly modified to accommodate older children with better command of English.
The Toolbox II attempts to maintain a link between home and future school-based learning, promoting bonding between children and parents through shared family activities.
